Slowly Getting Back to Normal

By: Albert “Barclay” Wong

I am scheduled to receive my second dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine on April 20.  It is an event that I am thankful for and looking forward to.  The vaccination of our population is the best way to return to normal and is a process that is well underway.

The Health Care attorneys at DSV are very involved in DRI and specifically in the Medical Liability and Health Care Law Committee.  The Medical Liability and Health Care Law Committee has more 1400 members nationwide and presents two seminars annually.  I have the honor of serving as the current Chair of the Medical Liability and Health Care Law Committee.

DRI recently announced that it will begin to hold in-person seminars beginning in June.  I plan on attending the 2021 DRI Diversity for Success Seminar in New Orleans from June 16-18 in New Orleans. The DRI Diversity and Inclusion Committee is excited and honored to host the first in-person DRI seminar since March 2020.  The Medical Liability and Health Care Law Committee has planned the Medical Liability and Health Care Law Seminar which will be held from July 29-30 at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas.  The seminar may look a little different in the interest of safety, but will provide cutting-edge CLE, networking opportunities, a Committee business meeting, and a DRI philanthropic activity.  DSV’s Health Care attorneys will attend this seminar to ensure that they remain up to date on the cutting-edge trends in medical malpractice defense.

The Medical Liability and Health Care Law Committee also presents an annual seminar which specifically addresses nursing home and assisted living litigation.  DSV’s Health Care attorneys have attended, helped plan, spoken at, or chaired this seminar in some fashion for the last 15 years.  DSV Partner, Jennifer Strange, is the current Vice Program Chair for this year’s seminar.  The 2021 Senior Living and Long-Term Care Litigation Seminar is currently being planned.  The seminar will be held from September 23-24, 2021 at the Encore at Wynn Las Vegas.  using the same state-of-the-art virtual platform.  The seminar also may look a little different in the interest of safety, but will provide cutting-edge CLE, networking opportunities, a Committee business meeting, and a DRI philanthropic activity. DSV’s Health Care attorneys will participate in all these activities to ensure that we continue to represent and defend our nursing home and assisted living facility clients using all the latest tools and techniques.

The return to in-person DRI seminars represents another step in the return to the pre-COVID-19 world.  It is a step that I am looking forward to.
